Main Street, Ahascragh, Co. Galway Ahascragh Mills
Ahascragh Mills comprises of three mill buildings set around a mill stream, mill race and the remains of the original mill wheel.

The original mill is over 200 years old and sits on a site just under one acre. The mill steam flows through the site and provided all the energy needed to power the mill in the past.

The main mill building is a 4 storey cut stone building in amazing condition for its age. Inside you will find many original features. The building overlooks the stream and old wheel. There are two other large mill buildings, one of which was partially restored and reinforced in the 1950s. The third building has lost its roof but still retains many original features.

There is an open area to the rear bordering the stream which has a fantastic position overlooking the stream and the stone bridge. To the front is a large open space with double gates for drive in access and a separate pedestrian gate. The entire site is surrounded by a high stone wall.

The mill is located in a prominent position on the Main Street in the village of Ahascragh, Co. Galway which is 10 minutes off the main Dublin to Galway motorway. The village has 5 pubs, a local shop, post office and several other businesses. There is a vibrant community in the village with regular events and activities organised locally. You can reach Galway city in under an hour and Dublin in approximately one and a half hours. There is a train Station in Ballinasloe town which is 10 minutes away.

This property is a protected building and, subject to planning permission, is crying out to be redeveloped into either an amazing family home or a commercial venture such as a distillery, wedding and event venue, glamping site or heritage museum.

There is also the possibility of reinstating the mill wheel to provide hydro electrical power. There are various grants available for protected structures and for projects in rural Ireland.
